I’m Proud Of Our OnChainMonkey Web3 Community for Helping Maui Fire Victims

As of Friday a total of 2,207 structures were damaged or destroyed as a result of the tragic Lahaina Fire on Maui, according to the Pacific Disaster Center and FEMA. Earlier today the Maui County government confirmed the death toll has now reached 80 with people still unaccounted for.

Less than 24 hours ago, I shared a note in our OnChainMonkey (OCM) Discord and also on X (formally Twitter) which read:

I’m a Fourth Generation Rotarian and know that Rotary International and the local Lahaina Rotary Club will make sure all funds go to where they’re needed most.

What warmed my heart was seeing the immediate response and support of my OCM community members. They shared, donated and made an immediate difference. For me, this is what web3 communities are all about.

Here are a few public responses from my X feed, and there are another dozen or so in my DMs. I have a feeling we’re just getting started.

There are many more but you get the point.

If you’d like to help the Maui fire victims, please do so through your favorite resource. If you’d like to join us through Rotary, here’s the link I shared on Friday https://www.rotarycluboflahaina.org/Stories/maui-fires-relief-fund-2023

If you’d like to learn more about how OCM is helping others, please visit our news and update page https://onchainmonkey.com/news

Yours in service both IRL and on web3,

Mitch
